Delta Blues Legends Tour and Dominican University Return June 15th, 2012

Earlier today, I received a phone call from Sylvester Hoover, owner of Delta Blues Legend Tours of Greenwood, Mississippi. This Friday, June 15th, 2012, the 308 Blues Club and Cafe will join Hoover in welcoming students from Dominican University of Chicago, Illinois as they explore the Southern roots of American music and its relationship to the Civil Rights Movement. Their experimental course, “The Racial and Musical Legacy of Memphis and the Mississippi Delta”, provides a five-day journey to significant historical locations in Memphis, Clarksdale, Greenwood, and throughout the Mississippi Delta.

The 308 Blues Club and Cafe would like to extend a special thanks to Sylvester Hoover and to the Dominican University facilitators for once again considering Indianola and our venue to close your week-long tour.

Thank you, 308 Blues Club and Sylvester and Mary Hoover, for the hospitality extended to the Dominican University students this past week. Our 2012 trip was the ninth time we have brought our undergraduates to the Delta and the Greenwood and Indianola stops are always high points. Looking forward to seeing you again next summer, if not sooner.
