International Blues Jam featuring the Back Porch Blues Society Band of Norway

Several weeks ago, our Mississippi Delta experienced a flood threat which lead to the cancellation of the 12th Annual Highway 61 Blues Festival in Leland and the Holly Ridge Jam. This year’s Blues Fest was to be dedicated to Lil’ Dave Thompson, who tragically lost his life in an auto accident while on tour in South Carolina last year. Saddened by this change of events, I reached out to festival organizer, Randy Magee. He mentioned that one of the expected bands, represented by members of the Back Porch Blues Society of Oslo, Norway, would be in the area and were looking to still perform. Without hesitation, another mini-blues jam was created. The 308 Blues Club and Cafe will host an International Blues Jam this Friday, June 3rd, starting at 9 pm. There is no cover charge for this event. Please come out and celebrate Lil’ Dave’s memory while sharing the enduring spirit of the Blues!

And just like last week’s D.C. Blues Revue… you never know who may show up. If you are a musician, our stage is open. The Back Porch Blues Society is looking forward to jamming with and meeting all of our local talent. And if you are Blues fan, I tell you now… this is a show you do not want to miss!
