Indianola, Mississippi… a special charter for a special election.

Most elections within the Delta are over. Many mayors have been replaced by younger mayors who I am certain will bring new insight and ideas to their cities. Unlike most cities within the state which hold primaries in May and their general elections in June, Indianola operates under a special charter that sets its November primary election and its general election in December.

Having already reached into the community and acquired enough signatures to run as an Independent candidate, I would rather have my name listed as a Democratic hopeful in the primary. I have recently learned that the Sunflower Democratic Executive Committee has set forth a public meeting for Saturday, July 11th, to organize an Indianola Democratic Executive Committee which will run the November 10th election. The meeting will begin at 7pm at the Sunflower County Courthouse in Indianola.

Upon the Indianola Democratic Executive Committee forming, I will submit the necessary papers to file as a Democratic candidate for mayor.

If you are a registered Democratic voter in Indianola, I will see you July 11th at the Sunflower County Courthouse at 7pm. I look forward to speaking with each of you and hearing your thoughts and ideas about making Indianola a better place.

As always, please feel free to leave your comments here or call 662-298-4596.
